At a meeting in Uganda, Federal National Council member Mona Juma Al Bahar said the UAE Government was eager to empower women socially, educationally and culturally, according to Wam, the state news agency.
Dr Al Bahar - the first female Emirati social worker and a representative in the International Women's Parliamentary Union (IPU) - expressed her beliefs at the 126th session of the IPU in Kampala.
She said women should be empowered through an "integrated approach" that would ensure their effective participation in political life.
