Al Ain Zoo is participating in Earth Hour on Saturday in an attempt to raise awareness about the environment.
Visitors will be offered free entrance to the zoo from 7pm to 8.30pm, where they can take part in night walks with torches, stargazing through telescopes, and a classical musical performance at the African exhibit.
Participants will be encouraged to light candles to mark the event.
Muna Al Dhaheri, head of conservation and education at Al Ain Zoo said: “Earth Hour aims to protect the environment, reduce global warming and regularise electricity consumption by switching off lights. Al Ain Zoo is committed to raising awareness about climate change, and we have organised a number of activities that give people the opportunity to be part of a global movement.”
