Mild tremors have been recorded across northern parts of the UAE after a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck southern Iran on Monday afternoon. Authorities in Iran said the quake struck near Kukherd, a city in Iran's Hormozgan province. The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the earthquake hit about 112 kilometre west of the port of Bandar Abbas. The National Centre of Meteorology said the quake struck at 2:58pm, measuring it on 5.1 on the Richter Scale. Residents took to social media to report the incident, with some in Dubai and even Abu Dhabi saying they felt the tremors.
