Extra buses have been chartered by Sharjah Police to ferry worshippers to mosques across the emirate on Tuesday night – the evening many Muslims believe to be Laylat Al Qadr. Brig Gen Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, said the buses would ensure smooth traffic and the safety of worshippers. Police patrols and ambulances will also be increased near mosques during evening prayer times. Laylat Al Qadr is believed to be the night the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed. On this night, Muslims increase their acts of worship. Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed to motorists returning from Al Sahaba Mosque after prayers.
