DUBAI // Three people were killed and one person was seriously injured in separate traffic incidents over the past week.
The first incident took place on Sunday at 9pm in the Al Qouz industrial area.
“Two Asian men on a motorcycle were killed while they were in the correct lane and a lorry entered their path in an almost horizontal fashion,” said Brig Saif Al Mazrouei, director of traffic police. “They were both pronounced dead at the scene from the severity of the crash.”
On Thursday afternoon, an Asian man was run over and killed when he was crossing the Dubai-Al Ain from an undesignated area, said Brig Al Mazrouei.
He also said that that on Monday night, a man was seriously injured when a mini bus ran him over.
Brig Al Mazrouei said the last incident took place in the Al Rashidiya area, where a cement lorry swerved and flipped over. No injuries were recorded.
In Sharjah, police said that two died and two were injured on Monday morning in a crash involving a lorry and a vehicle on Mleiha Road in Sharjah.
The crash was reported at 2am, Sharjah Police said. The four victims, all from Asian countries, were taken to hospital, where two were pronounced dead, reported Aletihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
The others are receiving treatment for moderate injuries.
Investigators at the Sharjah traffic and patrols directorate blamed the crash on speeding and inattention.
