Fulfil the covenant, sermon reads

Keeping promises and being honest are the topics of this week’s sermon.

“And fulfil [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned.”

The sermon read: “In everything that Allah ordered him and forbade him is of the Covenant, it enters in between a person and his Lord, and among people with each other.”

Those who have the Lord’s love are those who fulfil the covenant to Him, forbid themselves from what He prohibited and base their actions on what his Holy book, the Quran, and Messenger, the Prophet Mohammed, have called for.

“Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan – [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.”

The verse interprets as worship Allah alone without all the others and be obedient to Him, as sincerity is of His worship, and disobeying the devil is the true religion and the straight path.

The sermon tells husbands to take upon their promise to their wives, and employees to commit to their duty by respecting their contract.

“Perform your duties in honesty and sincerity, in the obedience of Allah, and serving of the community,” the sermon read.

The sermon also urges Muslims to follow through on their promises in religion, trade, rent leases, marriage and divorce, reconciliation and ownership of items.

“Promises are obligations between people in transactions, sales, charters and all other work,” the sermon read. “And in the ingratitude of those covenants, contracts and loss of rights is the lack of religion.

“Don’t break your promises, but assure them by your faith. Whatever you have, even if it was great will vanish, but what you promise to Allah and your obedience to Him will stay.”
