Louvre Abu Dhabi has replaced a map of the southern Arabian Gulf that omitted the Qatari peninsula.
The museum on Monday said the original inaccuracy was simply an oversight and has now been corrected.
"Louvre Abu Dhabi has numerous maps throughout the museum," it said.
"In this instance, the map represented the road of exchange of an ancient vase. The inaccuracy was an oversight and so we have replaced the map on display."
The original map was in the Children's Museum of Louvre Abu Dhabi and, like many others across the museum, gives context to the exhibits.
"Louvre Abu Dhabi is a universal museum which celebrates cross-cultural exchange and tolerance. In line with international best practice, our curatorial narratives are shaped by the historic and cultural context of the fascinating objects," the museum said.

A picture of the original map had been circulating on social media over the past few days.
Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, had earlier said that reports about the issue had been exaggerated.
“The observations of some are trying to [create issues] by fishing in muddy water. Culture remains more significant than those small issues." he said.
The UAE — along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt — implemented a boycott of Doha since June 5 last year over its support of extremism.
