The food industry and hospitality sector have been reminded of the penalties for handling food that is adulterated, harmful to health or spoilt, in a tweet from the UAE Public Prosecution Office. The tweet comes as eating out and <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/health/uae-hoteliers-promise-quality-over-quantity-as-pandemic-alters-iftar-dining-experience-1.1205217">iftar dining have been changed by the coronavirus pandemic</a>. Those found guilty of breaching food safety laws face a prison sentence of at least three months and fines of between Dh100,000 ($27,244) Dh2 million. This is under Article 14, Clause 1 of Federal Law No 10 of 2015, said prosecutors. The Public Prosecution Office said it was tweeting the information to raise awareness of the potential punishments.
