The UAE's leaders were told of the country's conservation efforts during a lecture at Majlis Mohammed bin Zayed on Wednesday.
Razan Al Mubarak, secretary general of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, gave a talk to the crowd titled ’For The Love of Nature: Innovative Philanthropy for Species Conservation Worldwide’.
"We in the UAE make a significant difference to preserve the life of threatened plants and animals not only at the local level but globally," she said, adding that this is the outcome of UAE Founding Father Sheikh Zayed's vision.
She also told of the Mohammed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund that has contributed to the preservation of more than 1,200 endangered species in 170 countries at a cost of Dh60 million.
Ms Al Mubarak called on the public to lend their efforts to the fund to protect biodiversity and reduce the number of species extinctions worldwide.
The lecture was part of a series of talks held by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, during Ramadan.
