Saudi Arabia's pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai is looking to recruit Saudi student volunteers. A workshop was organised for presidents of Saudi students’ clubs and students in seven Emirati universities to recruit around 1,000 student volunteers to work at the country’s pavilion from October 2020 to April 2021. The programme will run in partnership with the Emirates Foundation and universities across the UAE. Students can apply via a digital platform (www.volunteers.ae/KSAPavilion/) linked to the Saudi Arabia pavilion’s official website. Successful applicants will undergo a research-based selection process, including personal data validation, a pre-assessment interview and a skills assessment. Once they progress from this stage, the students will be trained for specific positions based on their skill sets and, upon completion, will be awarded a certificate at a graduation ceremony. The programme will accept an equal number of boys and girls. “The campaign will help us to identify and nurture young talents that Saudi Arabia has to offer,” Dr Fahad bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Yabis, commission general and project manager for the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai said. “Our programme provides these students with the opportunity to act as ambassadors for our country on a global stage. Expo 2020 Dubai provides Saudi people a chance to show the world how relatable we are, and these student ambassadors will be examples of this,” Thurya Al Badran, head of the volunteering programme at the Saudi pavilion said. “Emirates Foundation [will provide] volunteering opportunities for young people to enable them to build their capabilities and develop their leadership skills, and our partnership with the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is in line with this commitment,” said Ahmed Talib Al Shamsi, acting chief executive of Emirates Foundation.
