Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received Eid greetings from Microsoft founder Bill Gates. In a phone call, the billionaire philanthropist praised the UAE's response to the pandemic. They discussed ways to enhance co-operation to improve worldwide response to Covid-19, particularly in poor communities. Mr Gates, who is one of the world’s richest men and co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, encouraged greater collaboration to offer fair access to vaccines around the world. He lauded the UAE's humanitarian role in helping many countries of the world, either by providing logistical support to deliver the vaccines or by supporting the relevant international organisations. Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Gates have worked together in recent years to provide key investment to boost vaccines and combat polio and other diseases. The UAE is at the forefront of supporting humanitarian projects around the world, with International Humanitarian City in Dubai providing a logistical centre for aid delivery.
