The three soldiers who died in Yemen on Saturday will live on in the hearts of their fellow citizens, said Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Sheikh Mohammed made the comments on Tuesday during visits to the Ras Al Khaimah homes of First Corporals Khalid Al Shehhi and Fahim Al Habsi.
The previous night, the Crown Prince had paid his respects at the Sharjah family home of Cpl Juma Al Hammadi.
“Our martyrs carved their names in the nation’s memory and in the hearts of all Emiratis while performing their national and humanitarian duties,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
“The heroic sacrifices of our martyrs sends a strong message that we will never compromise when it comes to the security and stability of our nation and of our brotherly nations. We will stand firm in the face of conspiracies, threats and challenges posed at us. We are proud of the mothers, fathers and families of the martyrs who all held their heads high, showed their love and loyalty to their country and symbolised the strong bonds between the Emirati people and their leadership.”
Sheikh Mohammed said his words were not enough to give the men the tributes they deserved, the state news agency Wam reported.
The three who died serving in Operation Restoring Hope, the Saudi Arabian-led coalition battling Houthi rebels, were buried on Sunday. Hundreds of mourners attended the funerals.
Other officials who have paid visits to the families include Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Tomato and walnut salad
