Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak has called for the establishment of an association to support mothers of people with disabilities. The organisation will promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge, organise training workshops for mothers, and provide a link between them and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. Founding mothers of the association will meet at a later date to discuss the organisation's statutes ahead of its official launch. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women's Union, president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and supreme chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, on Monday met Tim Shriver, chairman of the Special Olympics, and his family, during the Games, which are being held in Abu Dhabi this week. She said the event succeeded in highlighting the capabilities of people with disabilities around the world, adding that the UAE fully supports them as they are important members of the community. "We are drawing inspiration from them, due to their determination and will," she said.
