Ministers, business leaders and members of the public across the UAE celebrated the International Day of Happiness on Wednesday. In Umm Al Quwain, police announced a 50 per cent reduction in traffic fines until May 4, while in Abu Dhabi officers handed out free flowers to pedestrians. This year’s theme is ‘Happier Together’, with the idea being that people from around the world join together to celebrate their “common humanity.” Ohoud Al Roumi, UAE Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing, posted a picture on Twitter of Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid celebrating with children. And Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayedm, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, wrote on the social media site: “Many are the keys of happiness. “In the UAE the values of tolerance and peace not only bring social happiness, but also spreads happiness to other nations.”
