A Sharjah field hospital to treat Covid-19 cases is now open. The Mohamed bin Zayed Hospital has 48 intensive care beds and 156 beds for severe and moderate cases. It is staffed by 75 doctors, 231 nurses, and 44 technicians and assistant healthcare workers. The 7,000-square-metre facility was built by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) in co-operation with the Ministry of Health. “The hospital will help provide treatment and health services of the highest standards to patients,” said Maj Gen Saif Al Shamsi, commander in chief of Sharjah Police. “Opening the hospital supports the country’s efforts in fighting Covid-19 and maintaining everyone’s health and safety.” Seha will continue to fight the pandemic by establishing more field hospitals in several emirates, said Dr Marwan Al Kaabi, acting executive director of operations at Seha. “This field hospital is an addition to others that were previously opened in Dubai and Ajman,” he said. The UAE's network of field hospitals are operated by Seha in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Department of Health Abu Dhabi. The country recorded 2,128 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, bringing the total number to 455,197. It announced 2,243 recoveries and four deaths. More than 36.9 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the UAE.
