The UAE recorded 1,153 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, bringing its total to 176,429. A further 634 patients were given the all-clear as the recovery tally climbed to 159,132. The death toll across the Emirates stands at 592 after three people died The latest infections were detected as a result of an additional 92,147 tests. The UAE has conducted more than 17.4 million Covid-19 tests since the outbreak began as part of a mass screening strategy aimed at limiting the spread of the virus. The number of active cases in the country has risen to 16,705, having fallen below 2,000 as recently as November 4. The increase has been prompted by a pattern in recent weeks of new infections exceeding recoveries. In the last seven days, the UAE has reported 8,676 coronavirus cases. This amounts to a daily average of 1,239 infections. Over the same period, 4,947 patients have recovered from the virus at a daily average of 706.
