The UAE recorded 1,512 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, in line with a recent decline in daily case numbers. The country's daily caseload hovered around 1,500 this week and has remained below 2,000 since April 27. The latest infections brought the overall tally to 542,158. Another 1,474 people overcame the virus as the recovery total climbed to 522,356. The death toll stands at 1,623 following four fatalities in the 24-hour reporting period. The number of active cases in the Emirates rose to 18,179 on the back of new daily infections exceeding recoveries. An additional 212,212 tests were conducted as part of an ongoing mass screening drive. More than 46.6 million tests have been conducted nationwide since the outbreak began. A further 55,611 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered during the past 24 hours, raising the overall tally to 11,422,565. The UAE embarked on a nationwide vaccination campaign in December.
