The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 1,961 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, after nearly 200,000 tests were carried out. Officials said four people died in the past 24 hours and 1,803 recovered. There are currently 17,735 active cases in the UAE. An additional 193,693 tests were administered, bringing the total number of tests carried out since the beginning of the outbreak to 43,904,822. The country has recorded 518,262 cases, 498,943 recoveries and 1,584 deaths since the first Covid-19 case was detected in the Emirates on January 29, 2020. The ministry said 58,479 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered in the past 24 hours. To date, more than 10.4 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across the country with a vaccine distribution rate of 105.82 doses per 100 people. The UAE, meanwhile, <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/uae/government/they-made-the-ultimate-sacrifice-uae-honours-the-lives-of-14-frontline-heroes-who-died-in-nation-s-covid-19-fight-1.1212950" target="_blank">pledged support to the families of 14 frontline </a>staff who died during the nation's fight against Covid-19. The Frontline Heroes Office, established in July, has a database of about 100,000 key workers across the Emirates. The office supports these essential employees and their families through scholarships, mental health programmes and training.
