The UAE reported 2,289 new coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours on Tuesday, bringing the total tally of infections to 459,360. Officials said another 2,422 patients beat the virus, as the total number of recoveries reached 443,153. Another six deaths were confirmed, taking the total number of fatalities to 1,492. An additional 223,799 tests were conducted over the latest 24-hour period. More than 37.3 million tests have been carried out across the Emirates since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of active cases fell to 14,715, as recoveries surpassed new infections for the 17th consecutive day. Globally, there have been 128,262,723 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 2,804,905 deaths. A long-awaited report into the origins of the coronavirus, following a fact-finding mission to China, will be released publicly on Tuesday, the World Health Organisation said. "All hypotheses are on the table and warrant complete and further studies," said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of the WHO. Speaking at the same briefing, German International Development Minister Gerd Muller said he welcomed China's co-operation with the investigation, which took place in January and February. A team of international experts visited Wuhan in China, examining and ranking in their report four possible pathways by which the coronavirus might have entered humans before spreading around the world. "WHO has received the full mission report over the weekend on the origins of the Sars-CoV-2 virus from the team that visited Wuhan earlier this year," Dr Tedros said. Sars-CoV-2 is the virus that causes the Covid-19 disease. He said a mission briefing would be held between the international experts and the WHO's 194 member states on Tuesday, after which the report would be published on the organisation's website.
