UAE reports 1,813 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths

The UAE reported 1,813 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, taking the total tally of infections to 510,738.

There were 1,652 new recoveries during the previous 24 hours and the total number of patients who have beaten the virus stands at 492,109.

The Emirates carried out 205,321 Covid-19 tests over a 24-hour period.

Officials reported two deaths, taking the number of fatalities to 1,571.

There are 17,058 active cases in the country.

On Sunday, the health ministry said 21,580 vaccine doses were administered in the preceding 24 hours. So far, 10,215,856 doses have been given  across the country.

More than half the UAE population have now been vaccinated, which has helped to bring new cases down from a high of almost 4,000 a day in January to about 2,000 in recent weeks.

About 5.1 million people have received one dose of a vaccine, while more than 3.8 million people are fully inoculated.
