Almost 550 unlicensed motorbikes have been seized by police in Ras Al Khaimah.
The Traffic and Patrols Department at RAK police confiscated 549 bikes over the course of a 10-day inspection campaign that covered areas near main roads and residential areas.
Maj Salem Bourguiba, head of the department, said the unlicensed motorbikes caused disturbance and were unsafe.
“Some were seized as the owners did not have a motorbike licence,” he said.
“Commuting using an unlicensed motorbike or without having a driving licence can be very risky and can be dangerous to other road users, especially if the motorbikes are being used for delivery services,” said Maj Bourguiba
He called on motorcyclists to drive carefully, adhere to the traffic rules and ensure their motorbikes are licensed.
He also urged parents to collaborate with the authorities to protect their children from the danger of using unlicensed motorbikes.
