ABU DHABI // Emiratis across the country rejoiced and expressed their best wishes to Kuwaitis celebrating their national day on Saturday. President Sheikh Khalifa sent a cable to the emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, congratulating him on the occasion of his country’s anniversary. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, sent similar messages. “The people of Kuwait are my people and my brothers,” the Vice President tweeted. “Their emir is my friend, my mentor and my brother, and both our peoples are related by kinship, descent and affinity. God bless us all and may he preserve the affinity and love between us.” Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, posted a photo of the Burj Khalifa lit up in the national colours of the Kuwaiti flag. “Congratulations to our people and the Kuwaiti people on the occasion of the National Day of the brotherly state of Kuwait,” he wrote. “May God protect the state of Kuwait, the Kuwaiti people and the Arab and Muslim nation from harm. Wishing Kuwait a happy national day.” Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed, the President’s Representative, also congratulated Sheikh Sabah and the Kuwaiti government and people. In a cable, Sheikh Sultan wished for further progress and glory for Kuwait and its people, and expressed appreciation of the efforts being made by the emir and his government to serve this region’s causes. He also praised the emir for his role in achieving harmony of views in the Gulf and the wider Arab World, and his commitment to the principles of protecting national dignity and Arab unity. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah; Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah; Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah sent similar messages. Celebrations were held at Global Village in Dubai, with music at the Kuwait pavilion while Dubai Mall celebrations included a concert with renowned Yemeni singer Balqees.
