An Asian man has been arrested after a body was found at a construction site in Ras Al Khaimah.
Colonel Abdullah Ali Menkhas, director of the CID at RAK Police, said the operations room received a call reporting that a dead body had been found at a house that was under construction. Officers attended the scene and preliminary investigations revealed the body was that of a 39-year-old Asian man.
A CID team was formed and gathered information that eventually identified a 30-year-old Asian believed to be responsible for the victim’s death.
The suspect was put under surveillance until he was arrested. When confronted with the evidence against him, he told officers he knew the deceased and that there had been various conflicts between them that escalated over time. Further questioning and investigations led the suspect to confess to committing the crime.
He told officers he had led the victim to the construction site and strangled him to death with a piece of cloth. He then hid the body under a wood panel and went home.
Colonel Menkhas said that following the suspect’s confession, the case was transferred to the General Prosecution in RAK for further investigation and to complete legal procedures.
He urged members of the community to resolve any disputes peacefully to prevent such crimes that reflect negatively on society.

When Umm Kulthum performed in Abu Dhabi
Known as The Lady of Arabic Song, Umm Kulthum performed in Abu Dhabi on November 28, 1971, as part of celebrations for the fifth anniversary of the accession of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as Ruler of Abu Dhabi. A concert hall was constructed for the event on land that is now Al Nahyan Stadium, behind Al Wahda Mall.
