RAS AL KHAIMAH // A drug trafficker with Dh1.1 million worth of morphine in his luggage has been arrested, police said. A tip-off was received about the Asian man and RAK Police’s anti-narcotics department, in cooperation with the General Department of Anti-narcotics at the Ministry of Interior and the Customs Authority in RAK, arrested him as he tried to smuggle the illegal drug out of the country at one of the emirate’s border points. Colonel Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the anti-narcotics department, said the man was put under surveillance and that he was ambushed and arrested as he tried to leave the country. The case has been sent to prosecutors for charges to be brought against the man. newsdesk@thenational.ae
