A man raped a woman as she slept in her Dubai home, a court heard.
The Egyptian accused, 23, allegedly sneaked into the woman's room in the early hours of the morning to launch the attack.
He fled the scene after the Filipino woman, 35, awoke to find him carrying out the assault, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
The incident is said to have taken place at a villa in Al Bada'a, in Dubai, on September 21 of last year.
“I was at a party with relatives and returned to my room at around 4:30am then fell in a deep sleep,” the woman said in court records.
The woman told her husband before alerting police.
Police located the accused in the area and arrested him.
A forensic report revealed that a DNA test taken following the man's arrest linked him to the rape.
The man faced a charge of rape at court.
The hearing was held behind closed doors and it was not disclosed in court records whether the man was asked to enter a plea.
The case is next due in court on May 12.
