Men ‘broke into and robbed Starbucks on Sheikh Zayed Road’



DUBAI // Two unemployed men broke into a branch of Starbucks and made off with more than Dh12,000, Dubai Criminal Court was told.

The 23-year-old Yemeni and 28-year-old Uzbek were charged with breaking into the cafe and stealing Dh12,017.75 from the safe before fleeing the scene in a white 4x4.

On January 6 this year the men used a crowbar to break open the front door of the coffee shop on Sheikh Zayed road before heading to the safe.

The used a large screwdriver and the crowbar to force open the safe, prosecutors said.

Both men denied a charge of burglary.

A ruling is expected on June 14.
