DUBAI // A fight at a petrol station ended up with one man being stabbed and a woman being beaten up, Dubai Criminal Court has heard.
Two Emirati men, 20 and 26, failed to appear in court to answer charges of attempting to murder the man, 30, also Emirati, and assaulting the housewife, 25.
The court heard that the fight broke out in March this year a petrol station in the the Al Twar area.
A policeman told the court that the defendants and the victims were parked next to each other at about 2.30am when the woman rolled down her window and asked the younger defendant if he was selling any hashish.
“His companion told her that they were not drug dealers and screamed at her.” said the officer.
The 20-year-old defendant said the victim got out the car and threatened them with a metal object.
“He and the woman cursed at us and attacked us so we defended ourselves and fled the scene,” he said.
The housewife said she knew the defendants beforehand and so started talking to them.
“He told me to lower the window because he wanted to talk to me,” she said.
“One of the men started looking at me in a weird way before he went inside the supermarket. After that I went to the store and the older defendant blocked my way and harassed me. I asked him to stop.”
She said after that the 20-year-old shouted at her companion and stabbed him with a knife.
The male victim said the housewife lowered the window and chatted with the men. “I got angry and screamed at her when I saw her chatting with them,” he said.
He said the younger defendant then threatened him with a knife.
“I told him I don’t want to fight or look for any problems. Then he pushed the woman, and I told him to stop because she is a woman. He then stabbed me and I woke up in hospital.”
A medical report stated the man was stabbed in the chest and the abdomen.
The next hearing was set for January 16.
