Mother killed and baby in critical condition after Sharjah crash



A mother was killed and her 14-month-old daughter is fighting for her life after they were hit by a speeding driver in Sharjah.

The woman was crossing Al Khan Street with her young child when they were struck by the motorist.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the mother sadly died of her injuries before reaching the hospital.

Her baby is currently in intensive care.

Sharjah Police did not disclose the time and date of the incident.

Initial investigations showed that speeding and lack of attention from the driver caused the crash, while the mother had crossed the road from an area not designated for pedestrians, police said.

Colonel Abdul Latif Al Gharubati, head of Al Buhaira Police Station, urged motorists to be take care on the roads, particularly during rush hour.

He also advised pedestrians to always use the designated areas to cross the road.

The driver's role in the death is being investigated by police.
