Palestinian jailed by Dubai court for threatening flight attendant

DUBAI // A 28-year-old Palestinian man has been sentenced to three months in jail for threatening to kill a French flight attendant.

At Dubai Criminal Court last May the defendant, T B, denied threatening the 31-year-old victim, L M.

The flight attendant said in records that she started seeing T B after meeting him in April 2013.

During their relationship, the defendant started borrowing money, L M said.

“T B started borrowing money from me and he gave cheques signed by him in return,” L M told the court.

Prosecutors said L M had four cheques from T B worth Dh5,100.

When she demanded T B return her money, he started screaming at her, she said.

“He threatened to kill me, he said he will hunt me down and kill me, then he came to my residence, knocked on my door and asked I give him back the cheques,” L M said.

Moroccan flight attendant N R told prosecutors that when T B came to the accommodation she shared with L M and demanded she hand him back the cheques, they called the building’s security. After a week of threats, L M said, a report was made to police.
