Dubai // Police say they have completed their investigation into the murder of Suzan Tamim, the Lebanese singer who was stabbed to death last month, and that details of the case will be made public today. "The case is closed," said a police source, who declined to say whether the singer's killer was in custody. Tamim, 31, was found dead in her Dubai apartment on July 28 with her throat cut and multiple stab wounds to her body. Police believe she was murdered at about 9am, although her body was not discovered until 10.30pm that night. Her body was found after friends and family grew concerned when they could not contact her.
Her father, Abdul Sattar Tamim, had said he had his suspicions about who killed his daughter but declined to elaborate. Clara al Rumaily, Tamim's lawyer, said she suspected Tamim knew her killer. "She would never open the door to a stranger. I am sure that she not only knew her killer but trusted him," she said. In her last months, Tamim was isolated from family and friends, Miss Rumaily said, adding that she was surprised to learn that Tamim had moved to Dubai.
Born in Lebanon in 1977, Tamim shot to fame after winning a talent competition. Her turbulent life kept her in the spotlight. A very public divorce from her first husband, Ali Mouzanner, was followed by a failed marriage to Adel Maatouk, who was also her business manager. @Email:rabubaker@thenational.ae
