Police release TV ads to combat traffic accidents over Ramadan

Abu Dhabi Police has begun broadcasting TV adverts highlighting common road safety issues over Ramadan.

The 30-second ads highlight speeding and tiredness due to fasting as key causes of accidents during the holy month.

Authorities said crashes often happened as motorists rushed to reach iftar on time.

Lt Col Mohammed Al Manhali, of Abu Dhabi police, said officers hoped the ads would help cut the number of potential accidents.

“Always concentrate on the road and avoid being distracted with anything while driving,” said Maj Hamdan Al Derai.
