DUBAI // A doctor is on trial for allegedly sending abusive emails to his estranged wife that accused her of adultery after she was found not guilty of stealing Dh5 million in cash, paintings worth Dh700,000, and carpets.
The Belgian dermatologist, K A, 54, is said to have written emails calling his wife, J P, 51, a prostitute who could be spreading sexually transmitted diseases. But the doctor said his wife hacked his account to send the emails to herself.
J P, who is also Belgian, gave prosecutors copies of all the emails she claims K A sent.
In them she was described as a prostitute who had sex with different men without care and more for the pleasure than for the money.
At Dubai Court of Misdemeanours, the doctor faces a charge of issuing insults to J P and another charge of issuing accusations of theft and of insulting her for saying she posed a risk to his health.
Prosecutors said the emails were sent on and before September 13 last year.
K A denied the charges and said his wife was framing him because he had previously reported her to police for stealing valuables from his villa and for withdrawing Dh5m from a joint account they had before their marriage broke down.
She was acquitted of this charge by Dubai Court of Misdemeanours last June. The next hearing is on October 28.
