SHARJAH // A baby boy has been found abandoned in the Azra area of Sharjah, just two days after a baby girl was left nearby.
The boy was found on Friday morning and taken to Al Qassimi Hospital. The hospital said he was born less than a week ago.
Both babies are being cared for in a children's ward at the hospital and their condition is satisfactory, said Dr Arif al Nooryani, the director general of the hospital.
He said the hospital had taken in six abandoned children - four boys and two girls - so far this year.

The abandonment of babies is an increasing problem in the Northern Emirates, with at least one child being found every few months.
Police have occasionally been successful in finding and apprehending the parents.
The parents of two infants left in a Sharjah mosque were arrested last August, and Ajman police detained the parents of a baby girl found in a basket last year.
Umm al Qaiwain Hospital reunited a six-year-old Omani boy with his father last year after the boy spent five years in the hospital's care centre.
