DUBAI // A security guard accused of sexually assaulting an Indian student bit her father’s finger and her mother’s arm when they tried to restrain him, Dubai Criminal Court was told on Thursday.
The Pakistani guard, 37, approached the student, 21, at 9pm in the gym in her building in Bur Dubai and told her it was about to close.
“When I tried to leave I found the door locked, then he came towards me and attempted to sexually assault me,” she said.
She said she pushed him and managed to get away and run to her flat, where she told her parents what had happened.
They went to the gym with her and the guard started running when he saw them, she said.
Her 52-year-old father, a doctor, caught the man but was bitten on the finger and, when his wife tried to help him restrain the guard until police arrived, she was bitten on the arm, it was claimed.
“I confronted him but he denied it and said he had no idea why she was accusing him of such a thing, and when I asked about camera footage, he said there were no cameras,” the father said. The defendant was charged with sexual assault, which he denied in court yesterday.
“I assaulted them only after they assaulted me, but I didn’t molest their daughter,” he said.
A verdict is expected on December 26.
