Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Department held an awareness programme for children at Al Ibtihal nursery in Abu Dhabi.
The programme is part of a strategy aimed at gradually embedding traffic awareness in the emirate, starting with children.
Lt Col Jamal Salem Al Ameri, head of public relations at the department, stressed the importance of traffic awareness among children as it teaches them respect of traffic regulations, discipline and cooperation.
The programme taught children about the dangers of playing behind vehicles and riding bicycles in the street.
It also showed them how to safely board and step out of the school bus and focused on the meanings of the colours of street signs and the importance of sitting safely in the back seat.
