ABU DHABI // Some men just want to watch the road burn … and if they’re prepared to spend Dh3.5 million, Dubizzle has the car for them.
A replica of the Tumbler Batmobile used in the Dark Knight movies went on sale on the classifieds website on Sunday.
Listed as a 2012 model with only 250 kilometres on the clock, the Tumbler is a street-legal car that can shoot flames out of the rear “jet engine” at the flick of a switch – so tailgaters had better beware.
“We emptied the propane tanks for safety reasons but we have qualified the car to be licensed anywhere in the UAE,” said Majid Al Ramahi, sales manager of GTR Motors in Dubai.
Powered by a 5.7-litre, 8-cylinder Corvette engine producing 550 horsepower, with a top speed of 250kph, the car also comes with air conditioning, leather seats and a rear camera – handy for parking in malls.
Described as a cross between a Lamborghini and a tank by the film’s production designer, the Tumbler provides brawn and luxury in one package.
Other features include gull-wing doors and the front of the car rises up at high speeds, creating an effect similar to the movie.
Having been on sale in Dubai for more than five months now, Mr Al Ramahi said his dealership had previously advertised it for US$1m (Dh3.67m) on other websites with no takers.
The dealership has received many offers but none were accepted by the British owner, said Mr Al Ramahi.
“He is the only one that has ever owned this car and he has a set price in mind and will only accept that price.”
But having sold a replica of the motorcycle from the movie Tron for Dh450,000 three weeks ago, Mr Al Ramahi was confident of finding a buyer for this collector's item.
“This is a unique car with no more than eight made in the world,” he said.
The specifications of the original Batman Tumbler included an acceleration of 0 to 100kph in 5.6 seconds and four 44-inch “Super Swamper” tyres in the rear and two superior grip 18.5-inch Hoosier dirt tyres on the front.

“The biggest mistake people make is they panic when they see a bee. They are small but smart creatures. If you move your hand quickly to hit the bees, this is an aggressive action and bees will defend themselves. They can sense the adrenalin in our body. But if we are calm, they are move away.”
