A motorcyclist was killed in a road crash in Dubai on Monday. The rider was travelling on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road about 12.30pm when he was struck from behind by a Lexus car. The force of the impact knocked the bike into another lane of the highway, where it was hit by another vehicle. The Asian rider, whose age and specific nationality were not disclosed, died at the scene. The tragedy prompted Dubai Police to issue a new safety warning to motorists. Police called on road users to observe speed limits, pay due care and attention to other traffic and leave a safe distance between vehicles. The fatal incident was the second involving a motorcycle rider in as many days in Dubai. A biker died in Al Barsha about 3am on Sunday after he lost control of his vehicle and smashed into a pavement. Police and emergency services were sent but the man died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Another motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a second incident on the Abu Dhabi-bound section of Emirates Road about 3.15am the same night. The rider crashed into the back of a lorry travelling on the road.
