A man burned to death after his vehicle burst into flames upon crashing into a street light in Ras Al Khaimah. According to police, the Emirati, 19, was driving on a main road when a car - driven by an Arab man in his 30s - unexpectedly turned onto the road ahead of him. Police said the man tried to avoid the car ahead but was unsuccessful, crashing into the vehicle and then swerving into the lamp post. The car burst into flames upon collision, burning entirely with the Emirati still inside. Police, firefighters and ambulance teams rushed to the scene to find the vehicle still alight. They were unable to rescue the man. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and the body was taken to a hospital to hand over to his family and prepare for burial. Brig Dr Mohammed Al Humaidi, director general of central operations at RAK Police, said the case has been transferred to the relevant authorities to begin legal proceedings. He warned motorists against speeding and stressed the importance of abiding by traffic regulations to avoid a "tragic end". Brig Dr Al Humaidi said car accidents can happen in seconds but can result in grave losses.
