An Emirati exchange student was killed by a suspected drunk driver in a head-on collision in the US on Sunday night. Suhail Alderei, 20, was driving with a male friend down a busy highway when his Corvette collided with a Kia driving in the wrong direction. Indiana State Police said Alderei was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Kia, Anna Warner, 21, was also killed. “The Indiana State Police Regional Dispatch Centre received a report of a wrong-way driver north bound on I-65 in the south bound lanes,” a statement from police said. "Preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2015 Kia was northbound in the southbound lanes travelling in the centre lane. “The Kia struck a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette head-on. The Corvette was occupied by two males. “The driver of the Corvette was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lake County Coroner.” Alderei was enrolled at the Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis and was about to start his third year of study. His body has since been flown back to his family in Al Ain for burial at Al Waqan cemetery, according to <em>Al Khaleej </em>newspaper. The passenger with him was taken to a local hospital following the crash for treatment for "non-life-threatening injuries".
