Sharjah// An Emirati motorist died after his car hit a lamp post in Kalba and car caught fire.
Police, emergency crews and civil defence units were called to the scene of the accident at 1:30am on Thursday and found the car in flames.
Police said 30-year-old M H M was speeding in his Nissan Z on Corniche Street when he failed to notice a steep curb on the road, swerved and crashed into a lamp post and came to a stop in the middle of the road.
The Emirati died at the scene. The body was taken to hospital before being handed to his family.
Sharjah police urged motorists to drive safely and within speed limits. They also stressed that motorists should not be distracted while driving.
