A Dubai road has been renamed in honour of the region’s first World Expo, which starts next October. Jebel Ali Lehbab Road will now be known as Expo Road as a result of the order by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The World Expo, which takes place from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, is expected to attract 25 million visitors, the vast majority of whom will be coming from abroad to attend the event. Mattar Al Tayer, director general and chairman of the board of executive directors of the Roads & Transport Authority, said Expo Road is a vital traffic corridor in the roads network of Dubai. “It offers an alternative route for motorists heading to Jebel Ali Industrial Area and the surrounding areas,” said Mr Al Tayer. “It also serves motorists heading to or coming from Abu Dhabi without passing through the downtown area. Expo Road, which extends 15 km, serves several hotspots such as Jebel Ali Industrial Area, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, Dubai South and Dubai Investment Park and extends all the way to the site of Expo 2020.” ________________ Read more New speed limit on Dubai road comes into force Red road markings on Sheikh Zayed Road to warn speeders in Dubai ________________ He said the RTA has carried out several projects to improve the traffic flow on Expo Road, which starts at the Interchange of Sheikh Zayed Road and extends 15km up to Emirates Road.
