Motorists heading to Dubai from Sharjah were met with heavy congestion on Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Ittihad Road on Wednesday.
Heavy traffic was reported on the Dubai-Sharjah road from the Mazdar Showroom until Safeer Mall on Al Wahda Street, with delays also reported on the flyover to Al Nahda Street.
Minor accidents were reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road early on Wednesday, which were quickly cleared.
@TrafficDXB reported an accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road after the Al Dhaid Road intersection, towards Abu Dhabi, causing added congestion to rush hour traffic.
Another incident on Maliha Road, just after the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection towards Emirates Road, also caused delays.
On Sheikh Zayed Road, an accident after Mall of the Emirates on the Umm Suqeim Road interchange northbound caused congestion on Sheikh Zayed Road and Umm Sequim Road.
At 8.55am an accident occurred on Hessa Street before Al Khail Road exit towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah and another on Ras Al Khor Road after the Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection towards Dubai, both accidents caused delays.
Heavy congestion was also reported on the Dubai-Al Ain Road towards Dubai between the Al Meydan Road flyover and the exit for 34th street with motorists getting caught up in 1.5-kilometre tailbacks.
Several accidents on Al Yalayis Street from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road / Dubai Investments Park flyover towards Sheikh Zayed Road also caused serious delays.
