RAS AL KHAIMAH // Quad bike accidents led to six deaths and 26 injuries in 28 reported accidents in Ras Al Khaimah last year.
In 2014, quad bike accidents lead to 8 deaths and 46 injuries in 29 reported accidents, according to statistics issued by Ras Al Khaimah Police.
The number of quad bike-related deaths dropped by 25 per cent and injuries fell by 43 per cent in 2015, compared to 2014, said Brig Ghanem Ghanem, Director General of Central Operations at RAK Police.
Some 613 quad bikes breached regulations and were confiscated last year, he said.
Residents called for greater awareness among youth regarding the use of quad bikes in designated areas, according to Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister newspaper of The National.
