Commuters faced heavy congestion in and out of Dubai with tailbacks on a number of roads on Tuesday morning.
Drivers heading northbound from Sharjah faced traffic jams on Al Ittihad and Mohammed bin Zayed roads toward Muhaisanah.
Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road seemed to be less congested than the usual, but still motorists faced delays. Slow moving traffic was reported on Al Qusais Industrial area.
Commuters heading to Dubai on Dubai-Al Ain Road experienced heavy traffic.
In the capital, slow moving traffic was reported on corniche tunnel towards Sultan bin Zayed Street.
National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology alerted drivers that the fog will increase causing visibility of less than 1,000 meters at times.
How to protect yourself when air quality drops
Install an air filter in your home.
Close your windows and turn on the AC.
Shower or bath after being outside.
Wear a face mask.
Stay indoors when conditions are particularly poor.
If driving, turn your engine off when stationary.
