Two drown in Sharjah over the weekend

SHARJAH // Two men drowned in separate incidents on Friday.

In the first case, a 25-year-old Afghani drowned in Al Khan. The second fatality took place in a pool in Al Siouh.

In both cases, the men had died by the time police arrived, Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National reported.

Both bodies have undergone autopsies to determine the cause of death.

Earlier this month, police issued a warning to beachgoers to stay safe while swimming in open water.

As part of the campaign, police are also posting advice and messages on their social media sites. Warnings will also be posted on signs along beaches.
