Emiratis who take jobs in the private sector will have up to 30 per cent of their wages paid by the Government as part of an initiative launched by the Absher programme.
The scheme aims to encourage more private-sector companies to hire Emiratis with higher degrees and diplomas, and offer them professional on-the-job training.
Issa Al Mulla, executive director of the Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP) and member of the executive committee of Absher, said under the initiative the Government would commit to paying 30 per cent of an Emirati's monthly salary (to a maximum of Dh5,000) for the first eight months of work.
The Government will also pay a maximum of Dh10,000 for every Emirati graduate receiving specialised professional training, with the companies providing the training covering the rest of the cost.
ENDP signed an agreement with the Al Habtoor Group on Sunday to become the first private-sector company to implement the programme to recruit and train Emiratis. The first phase will have 10 Emirati graduates take positions at the company.
The Absher programme was set up to create thousands of new jobs for Emiratis in the public and private sector over the next five years.
These positions will be created in more than 20 entities, including airlines, oil companies, ministries, banks and hotels.
