Police have issued warnings urging motorists to drive with caution on rain-slicked roads following strong winds across the country. The Dubai Police on Monday warned motorists “to drive with extreme caution during the severe weather”. The Abu Dhabi Police sent text messages asking residents to remain indoors on Sunday night after a rainstorm forced the cancellation of a pop concert as high winds blew sand and debris over the capital. Traffic clogged roads on Monday in Mussaffah, on the Abu Dhabi Sweihan Al Hiyar road and Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street. Tailbacks were reported in Dubai Silicon Oasis, Muhaisnah, Rashidiya, Al Qusasis, the Dubai to Al Ain and Ras Al Khor roads. Delays were reported in Sharjah at Al Mamzar, Al Nahda, Al Tawun street, near the Expo centre and Chamber of Commerce, from Al Khan to Jamal Abdul Naser Street. UPDATE: More rain and high winds expected in UAE
