Temperatures soared to 49C in parts of the UAE on Friday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology. Hot to very hot weather is expected as well as partial clouds and haze at times, the centre said, with the amount of clouds increasing over some eastern and southern areas of the country in the afternoon. Some rainfall is also predicted. The visibility is expected to be poor over some eastern and southern areas from 1:30pm to 8pm and temperatures will reach a scorching 49C internally. Humidity is also expected to be high today, reaching 85 per cent across coastal regions, increasing at night and in the early morning across coastal and internal areas, especially towards the west. The lowest temperature recorded was 23.6C at 6am in the mountains. Light to moderate winds will cause blowing dust and sand over exposed areas and the sea will be moderate in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
