UAE women’s union to participate in International Day of Tolerance

ABU DHABI // The General Women’s Union will participate in celebrations for the International Day of Tolerance next month.

Noura Al Suwaidi, director general of the union, said it will participate in the events that the Ministry of State for Tolerance is organising on November 16, reported Wam, the state news agency.

She said that Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood, draws women’s participation in all events.

The UAE is committed to tolerance, she said, especially after the establishment of an international institute and award for tolerance by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

The International Day of Tolerance has been marked by United Nations member states since 1996.
