Video footage shows the moment a blaze tore through an abandoned building in Sharjah on Tuesday. A pedestrian recorded the scene as flames poured from the disused residential building on Al Wahda Street. The structure opposite Sharjah City Centre mall was slated for demolition. Sharjah Civil Defence said the blaze caused traffic congestion as drivers avoided the area and fire engines sped to the scene. Crews tackled the fire and then spent hours cooling the site to ensure a secondary fire did not start. No injuries were reported.
